EPIC - Electricity Program Investment Charge

Administered by the California Energy Commission and the utilities, ratepayers will fund research and development, demonstration and deployment, and market facilitation projects with an annual budget of $162 million from January 2013 through 2020.

California Energy Systems for the 21st Century - CES-21

California's three largest investor owned utilities - PG&E, SCE, and SDG&E - have requested the CPUC authorize $150 million in ratepayer funds over a five year period to conduct research in partnership with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL).

PG&E Silicon Valley Technology Center

In May 2012, the CPUC issued a decision denying PG&E’s request to spend $17 million in ratepayer funds to invest in the SVTC, a solar manufacturing service facility that would provide solar manufacturers with a facility for testing technology.
